Foundry: Introduction and process requirements of sand mold agricultural machinery castings

Foundry

Foundry: Sand mold agricultural machinery castings effectively inject liquid metal into the mold made of compacted molding sand. After solidification and cooling, the casting method of destroying the mold and taking out the casting is called sand mold casting.

Foundry: Sand mold Agricultural machinery castings Sand casting is a casting method in which liquid metal is poured into a mold made of compacted molding sand, and after solidification and cooling, the mold is destroyed and the casting is taken out. Sand casting is a traditional casting method suitable for the production of castings of various shapes, sizes, and commonly used alloys.

The main processes of sand-molded agricultural machinery castings effectively include the preparation of molding materials, molding, core making, mold closing, smelting, pouring, sand removal, cleaning, and inspection. Before casting production, a casting process drawing needs to be drawn based on the part drawing. The casting process drawing is a graphic representation of the casting process plan on the part drawing using various process symbols and parameters.

Foundry: Sand casting pouring position, number and shape of cores, mold parting surface, dimensions and fixing methods, machining allowance, shrinkage rate, pouring system, draft angle, riser and chill dimensions and arrangement, etc. The casting process drawing is the basic process document guiding pattern (core box) design, production preparation, mold manufacturing, and casting inspection.

In the process of manufacturing sand molds for sand-molded agricultural machinery castings, a bottomless and lidless frame surrounding the sand mold is needed to effectively prevent the molding sand from being squeezed out during compaction. This frame is called a sand box. The function of the sand box is to facilitate molding, facilitate turning the sand mold, and transporting the sand mold.

Process requirements and pouring precautions for agricultural machinery castings

Foundry : Steel castings are parts made of cast steel, which have similar properties to cast iron but better strength. Steel castings are prone to defects such as porosity and inaccurate angle positioning during the casting process, which may lead to machine shell fracture during long-term use.

According to the structural characteristics and process requirements of steel castings, select an appropriate pouring system, usually using top pouring or bottom pouring.

       1. Basic principles for setting up the pouring system: The position of the gate and riser should be reasonable, and the size should be appropriate so as not to hinder the shrinkage of the casting, facilitate exhaust, sand removal, and cleaning. The mold size should be minimized as much as possible, the molding operation should be simplified, the amount of molding sand should be saved, and the labor intensity should be reduced.

       2. Precautions for the position of the inner runner: The inner runner should not be located in important parts of the casting; the distance for the metal liquid to flow to various parts of the cavity should be short; the metal liquid should not directly impact the mold and core; the metal liquid should be evenly dispersed and quickly fill the cavity; do not face the chills and chaplets in the mold.
