What is a valve cover?

A valve is a control component in a fluid transport system that has the functions of shut-off, regulation, diversion, backflow prevention, pressure stabilization, diversion, or overflow relief. What is a valve cover?

A valve is a control element in a fluid transport system that has the functions of shut-off, regulation, diversion, backflow prevention, pressure stabilization, diversion, or overflow relief. What is Valve cover

The valve cover is a valve part with a stem seal, used to connect or support the actuator. The valve cover is a valve part with a stem seal, used to connect or support the actuator. The valve cover and valve body can be integral or split. The valve cover is the top cover and is a removable part of the main assembly surface of the valve body, which is often connected to the valve body by high-strength bolts. It is a pressure-bearing component, so the design conditions are the same as the valve body. To remove the internal parts of the valve, it is often necessary to remove the valve cover first; however, in some valve structures, such as eccentric rotary valves and sliding gate valves, the valve cover is cast together with the valve body. In this case, the internal parts can be removed through the end face of the inlet or outlet flange or through the end face of another separate valve body. This removable valve cover has the advantage of being easy to disassemble, but it also has the disadvantage that the valve cover is easy to fall off.

The valve cover has two functions: one is to position the valve stem to ensure the normal drive switch of the valve stem. The second is the sealing function, which has a certain strength to prevent the internal fluid from flowing out. In fact, it is to prevent media from flowing out. Valve parts with stem seals are used to connect or support actuators. The valve cover and valve body can be integral or split. The valve cover in the gate valve mainly plays the role of tightening the packing.

There is a nameplate on the valve cover, and the nameplate has the safety valve model. Safety valves have standard and non-standard models. The standard starts with the first letter "A" of the Pinyin of "safety valve", followed by two numbers representing the connection form and type, followed by a letter representing the sealing surface material, followed by the connection symbol "-", the nominal pressure number, and the letter representing the valve body material.
