The primary maintenance of automobile casting molds refers to the daily maintenance of the molds by the operators in production, mainly including cleaning, lubrication and inspection.

1. Maintenance during mold filling
Before installation, the upper and lower surfaces of the mold should be cleaned to ensure that the mold installation surface and the workbench surface of the press are not pressed, and the parallelism of the upper and lower installation surfaces of the mold is not damaged during production. After the mold is installed, open the mold and clean all parts of the mold, especially the guiding mechanism. For curved parts molds, clean their contours to ensure the quality of the finished product. Lubricate all sliding parts of the mold. Inspect all parts of the mold, especially safety parts. Such as safety side pins, safety screws, side guards, stamping scrap channels, etc.
2. Maintenance during production
Regularly oil the corresponding parts of the automobile mold during the production process. Such as: the pressure ring and fillet of the drawing die; the edge part of the side die; the flanging knife block, etc.
Regularly clean the waste material in the small hole chip removal channel of the trimming and punching die.
3. Post-production maintenance
After the production is completed, the mold should be inspected in many aspects; to clean the mold to ensure the cleanliness of the mold; clean the waste in the mold to ensure that there is no waste in the waste box; truthfully report the use of the mold and the condition after use to the mold transfer.

The secondary maintenance of the mold refers to the regular and systematic maintenance of the mold according to the technical condition and complexity of the mold. The maintenance is carried out by mold maintenance personnel, and records are made according to the maintenance situation.
Automobile Castings: What are the automobile casting materials and forming process?
1. The materials used for automobile castings are mainly cast iron and aluminum alloy, as well as a small amount of magnesium alloy, copper alloy and zinc alloy. Magnesium alloy has low density and meets the needs of automobile lightweight, and is considered to be a very promising material. However, due to its low strength and low production cost, it will take some time to be widely used. At present, it is mainly used to make steering wheels, dashboards, pedals, seats and other parts.
2. Initially, aluminum alloy castings were only used for a few parts such as pistons. With the increasing requirements for lightweight automobiles, aluminum castings have been widely used in automobile cylinder heads, intake pipes, transmission housings and other parts, and the application of automobile cylinder blocks is also increasing. Dongfeng Engine Company's casting plant with an annual output of 50,000 aluminum cylinder blocks was put into operation in 2001, and Shenyang is also building a large automobile aluminum cylinder block casting plant.
3. With the development of motorcycles and automobiles in Chongqing, the output of aluminum castings has increased sharply. At present, many enterprises have an annual output of 50,000 tons of die castings and 10,000 tons to 30,000 tons of gravity casting aluminum castings, with a total output of more than 200,000 tons. Aluminum castings include gravity casting, die casting and low-pressure casting. Cast iron is still the main material for automobile castings, especially medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Cast iron still accounts for the vast majority of castings, and light commercial vehicles also use cast iron to reduce costs. Gray cast iron, ductile iron, vermicular graphite cast iron and chilled cast iron are used for automobile castings with different requirements.
4. Aluminum alloy wheels are made of aluminum alloy. The forming process of aluminum alloy wheels usually includes gravity casting, low-pressure casting, extrusion casting, semi-solid casting, forging, spinning and a combination of several processes. Extrusion casting and semi-solid casting technology can improve the mechanical properties of products by improving the metallographic structure of materials, and are especially suitable for manufacturing large-size, lightweight aluminum wheels. Spinning technology is a plastic deformation processing technology developed on the basis of hot forging technology.
5. Aluminum wheels are formed by spinning process after forging blanks. Compared with cast aluminum wheels of the same specification, the mechanical properties of the produced aluminum wheels are improved by more than 18%, and the weight can be reduced by about 20%. The main products are large-size lightweight aluminum wheels and racing aluminum wheels. A new concept of lightweight aluminum wheels with built-in air aluminum wheels has emerged, which further reduces the weight of the wheels by 20 through cavity technology.
